Introduction & Benefits
Rolf Method
What is Structural Integration?
The Rolf method of Structural Integration is a hands on manipulation of both fascia and connective tissue, with the aim of re-organizing the body, such that movement and postural alignment are restored. This provides relief from pain, corrects muscular dysfunction and improves performance in daily, professional or sporting activities.
During our lives we acrew injuries, our posture distorts through vocational repetitive activity, and we suffer the effects of gravity as we age. These changes compromise our physical ease of movement, and alter the freedom in which we live and function in the world.
The Rolf method of Structural Integration is a systematic way of releasing and rebalancing the fascial guy ropes of our body; such that the bones, joint congruence, muscular balance, and bodily segmental organization can realign themselves in the field of gravity.
A well aligned body with good posture enables one to move with enhanced energetic flow and freedom, hugely increasing quality of life. The ideal behind this is that structure enables function, and so the more congruent our structure, the greater our potential to express ourselves.
Relieves pain
Increases ease of movement and flexibility.
Improves postural alignment aiding Neurological conditions by improving joint congruence & muscular balance around joints.
Resolves restrictions and pain caused by old injuries.
Improves balance and musculoskeletal co-ordination enhancing sporting performance.
Increases injury recovery time.
Improves gait & ease of walking.
Enhances sense of Well-being & Physiological health through improved alignment, circulation and respiration.
Releases Emotional holding patterns.
Benefits of Structural Integration
What conditions are helped by Structural Integration?
Flat feet, or other foot related problems
Restores the ability to walk normally – balances the hips and re-establishes the gait
Injury recovery; once casts are removed following a breakage, muscular balance needs to be re-established
Nerve entrapment syndromes
Restless leg syndrome
RSI and tendonitis
Low back pain– by addressing all the areas that may be causing the vertebrae to be out of alignment, (i.e. arches of the feet, horizontality of the knee and hip joint), rather than just temporary symptomatic relief.
Neck pain
Shoulder pain
Sciatica
